What really lasts?

Reflections by Pastor George Reynolds

You must always keep your eyes on what will last into eternity.

You and I are often caught looking at what is temporary. But what is going to really last?

Paul, the writer of these verses, could have been focused on the trials or even the honors of his work. But he kept it all in perspective.

Are you raising children? Are you developing relationships? Are you working for the good of others?

All of these things and so much more take on new meaning when we see them from the long perspective- from the perspective of what will last, not just what is temporary.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:16-18‬ ‭NIV
