Today the Initiative is a formal relationship between the Susquehanna Conference of the UMC, that’s you and me, the UM churches across Central PA, and the Sierra Leone Annual Conference of the UMC. The Initiative partners local churches here in Central PA with a church in Sierra Leone. As a partner church, we have made a monthly commitment of $100 per month for the next ten years to the Initiative. That financial commitment goes to support the salaries of local pastors in Sierra Leone, including our pastor at the Gaston Memorial UMC in Yengema, Rev. Daniel Mondeh.

But that is just the beginning of what we hope will be a partnership that allows us to support the ministry of the Yengema UMC as they make disciples of Jesus Christ.

You may not think that a $100 a month commitment is much to support the pastors of Sierra Leone. But it makes all the difference in the world when it comes to being able to put food on the table, clothe his family and send his children to school. In reality, these pastors live on only a few dollars a day.
